Giants on clogs:
April 10th, 2008 by Ken Elm
April 10th saw Tokyo in the middle of an all round wet and cloudy week – one in which I had decided to use a day-off to visit the Edo Tokyo Museum in the Ryogoku area of town. Decent place well worth a visit no matter how long you have been here FWIW, but it was just after I left the museum that I saw the first photo op with which to kick things off here on TE – that of a bunch of overweight teens teetering along on old style clogs (geta I think they are called) and trying to protect massive shoulders from the rain with a ‘normal’ human sized umbrella!
They failed, but I, in snapping my first ever rikishi (sumo wrestler to us Westerners) succeeded!
